Should I give a new answer or change the old one?
@LSpice In that case, let me clarify by suggesting you should read my first comment in the light of my second comment. I don't think I was really suggesting anything pro or con this alleged SE guideline (and actually, I'm not seeing how my suggestion for this particular case would result in the rather-than scenario you described, but I think I've said enough on this for now).

Should I give a new answer or change the old one?
@LSpice Whenever one attempts to add a second answer on top of an answer one has already given, a pop-up box asks whether you're sure you want to do this instead of editing the old one. I'm not sure where you're getting that general SE philosophy from -- it sounds like a discouragement from editing.

"Best practice" according to SE philosophy is probably to edit the old answer; you could do this by having the old answer above a fold (type three dashes on a line after the old) and then start the new response on a line below the three dashes. Or, you could buck the philosophy and make a second post if you'd like; usually no one here at MO minds. In that case, if you don't want to receive "credit" for the quick and dirty answer, you could make it community wiki.

Does MO have a stand on neurodiversity?
@DanielGeisler I just looked at your comments below Gerhard's answer, particularly the second. If there are specific features that you want that have to do with web accessibility issues for those on the autistic spectrum, then you should make that clear. But I wish, instead of getting upset, you would engage. I had asked: what do you have in mind? I'm not picking up on what it is you want with your question.

Daniel, with your last comment, I have no idea what you are talking about. Delete account? Pronoun war? Better than? Speaking as a parent with a neurodiverse child, I think you are jumping to conclusions (I put "neurotypical" in quotes because I'm not sure what that term even means, especially for mathematicians.)

No, no stand. What do you have in mind? Most of the time we have no way of knowing who is "neurotypical" and who is not, and pretty much the only guideline in how we treat each another personally comes down to some variation of "be nice".

@Shog9 I'm very sad to see you're no longer with SE, Shog9. Best wishes for your future.

@GeraldEdgar A sizable number of posts undeleted might be by the OP who first deleted because something was wrong, then fixed the problem, then undeleted. This tends to happen much less for questions.

Recognizing identifiable users changing user names
This is hit or miss, but when people ping users in comment threads, the old name after the @ doesn't change. So if you are sufficiently determined, you can try scouring old comment threads.

Wouldn't it be nice to have subforums on MathOverflow dedicated to learning certain books/papers/etc.?
Chat rooms could be used for that, but of course you need an audience of more than one.
