Feb 10, 2015 at 0:57 comment added Jérôme JEAN-CHARLES After a certain amount of time, a fake answer by a user called "FROM_COMMENT" could be created saying "check the comments for this question". Decision would be moderator.
Feb 6, 2015 at 15:36 comment added Wolfgang If a question is trivial and the answers are given in a comment, but after some days neither has the commenter transformed the comment into an answer, nor has the OP created such an answer, maybe a good solution would be to put it "on hold" with a motive something like "The question has been answered in the comments."
Jan 29, 2015 at 18:58 comment added Gerhard Paseman I think turning comments into answers depends on question quality. Pretending for now that there is agreement on a standard of quality, I would prefer to see low quality questions unanswered, and rather see effort turn them into high quality questions. As an example, instead of seeing a question equivalent to an undergraduate or "teeth-cutting" exercise explained in full in an answer, I prefer either a hint in a comment or two, or else see the question reworked into a broader example of which the initial question is an introduction.
