Mustafa Said
I was born in Kabul, Afghanistan. My family came to the states during the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan and I have lived in Los Angeles almost my entire life. I attended UC Berkeley and UCLA an an undergraduate and I received my Phd from UC Irvine. Timur Oihkberg was my thesis advisor and we worked on "almost commuting matrices" which is an old problem in linear algebra and real analysis that was popularized by Halmos.
My research interests lie in the area of Functional Analysis, Matrix Analysis, Harmonic Analysis, and Analytic Number Theory.
