Asking for consensus on mathematical conventions/definitions
No @Todd, you seem to have it well figured out.

Asking for consensus on mathematical conventions/definitions
@Todd you ask a question asking for experts in the stated field, not just hoping that someone who's an expert in a different field happens to participate there as a hobby (or as an expert, sure). What I've seen is mathematicians weighing wrongly on matters of grammar and usage in their usual arrogant way, and not being corrected since no experts on both areas were present.

No, users of the English language site won't know what a root or a zero is.

@SamHopkins I don't think it is simply about accepting or not an answer, but about having confidence in the answer's accuracy.

Keeping a question on track or allowing people to chime in with stuff they'd like to mention?
I am fine with it, I think we do not need yet more policies. Big-list questions are rare these days, and I've found some fascinating details from the answers in this case.
