Having such a scheme as a recommended citation now can help settle the workflow into something that can help melt the resistance to change, and pave the way for when an archive is set up. | |

One thing I don't see clearly is a need to give a single link. A citation of the form [User](1). [Answer Title](2), MathOverflow ([accessed Date](3)). can give a link to the 'live' question in (2) and to the 'frozen' archive version in (3), and I think it's fairly clear what the role of each link is.
