About

I'm an emeritus professor at UC Santa Cruz. I work primarily on the classical N-body problem and subRiemannian geometry. I work a bit in control theory, where I became known at first for work on the Falling Cat problem. I dabble in algebraic geometry because of the ``Monster-Semple tower''. My training was in geometric mechanics under Marsden.
