I'd also find it good to be able to distinguish between "answered completely and unconditionally" and "answered up to open problems". -- More concretely, so far I have 3 questions which this applies to: mathoverflow.net/questions/138106, mathoverflow.net/questions/118523 and mathoverflow.net/questions/168109.

Sure -- but the suggested question is about a particular book, and thus maybe not of particularly broad interest, I think.

I think the reason for the close votes is likely rather the formulation of the question than the question as such. -- In particular, I think it is not good style to ask people to fill in the gaps in a draft of a proof, or to let people find errors in one's argumentation. I would just pose this as a terse 2-line question, followed by a few lines of explanation particularly mentioning the (11364,46061) example.

@LoganMaingi: Ah, I see ... interesting! -- Though you should rather say: they will remove this limit, as it hasn't been done so far. In any case, if this change is done SE-wide, my post is redundant and no longer needed. Though, the remaining limit of 30 comment votes per day is not very high as well, I think.
