For me, it renders correctly also in Chrome. --

The number of MO users
@MartinSleziak The peak was due to profile spammers, i.e., accounts which didn't post. At some point, the interest of profile spammers in MO dropped again, and the massive influx was over.

@MartinSleziak The spike in new user accounts in 2021 is due to a huge influx of spam profiles created in this time.

Gaining points for posting
What do you mean by "I am not allowed to comment or post"? -- As far as I can see, you are neither blocked from asking nor blocked from answering. You can add comments to other peoples' posts once you gained 50 points for your questions or answers (50 points correspond to a total of 5 upvotes).

Should this question have been CW?
The general tradition on MO is that big-list questions, or in general questions which do not have a single correct answer, should usually be CW. Also, questions which are rather soft questions than precise mathematical questions should usually be CW. These cannot be exact "hard" rules, of course.

Nominating other community members
@YemonChoi Yes, that risk is there -- but I fear that risk would also not be eliminated by announcing an election much longer in advance.

Nominating other community members
@SamHopkins Well -- how big or how small an additional commitment being a moderator on MO is, is largely up to the moderator themselve. But as I understand, it is in the interest of the community that moderators can regularly devote a non-negligible amount of time to their duties. -- And people for whom one month notice is sufficient are probably more likely to be able to do this than people for whom one month notice is insufficient to make the decision to run and to write their nomination.
