@RodrigodeAzevedo it is the fundamental source of racism, sexism, classism, etc., etc. If you disapprove of these things then you should want to combat it.
All other issues aside, social identity theory is indeed well-established imho. Humans are inherently tribalistic, and this is something to be actively combatted, not magically wished away.
