Is this question migratable to MO?
@ThomasRot : There are currently 61 featured question on MSE, and me putting a bounty may not be of much help as there isn't even a cursory acknowledgment of the question there. I am already a low Rep user!

Is this physical motivation appropriate for the question? (or any such question in general)?
@AndyPutman When I look at websites of faculty at universities I see a lot of specializations. Wonder what specializations are closer and more likely to be concerned with this problem.

In my question "this is super interesting topic", "this" refers to the subject, what motivates a mathematician in general, and not my original question. Just a clarification that i am not self claiming that my question should be found interesting by all!.

Is this thread really discussing mathematics or some technology?
@Willie : There is this thing especially about applied signal processing and computer vision problems is that there is a considerable and non-trivial gap between the problem statement/application name (usually this is physical description of problem) and then the later one being a mathematical formulation of sub problems which could be probably solved by using mathematics. I mean to say, just modeling being allowed doesn't mean that one can ask "I want to do alignment of medical images", as it is just a crude problem statement without any mathematical formulation.
