Maybe what we really need here is a new mechanism (beyond the existing synonym mechanism) for making some tags subordinate to others. In this case, we could make the tag 'stone-cech' subordinate to the tag 'compactification'. | |

Nevertheless, I agree that the tag 'stone-cech' would be better with a reference to compactification; perhaps 'stone-cech-compactificat'?
